Ahoj!
A few weeks ago, Dečko arranged a pirate-themed carneval here in Rychnov. Many children with their parents came, and they seemed to have a lot of fun!
We met up around noon and started setting up the decorations and going through the different games the children would play. Some teenagers from the area came to help with the preparations, dancing and games. Since the theme of the carneval was pirates, of course we all had to dress up. I got to borrow a costume and felt very slay! Later the children started arriving and they were all super cute in their different costumes. Not all of them followed the pirate theme, my favorite costumes included a ghost, a turtle and a SWAT team member.
The two leaders at Dečko (naturally also dressed in pirate costumes), Pepa and Martina, were the hosts of the event, they stood on stage and lead the children through a sort of treasure hunt storyline. The children would then play a game, and between each activity everyone followed an easy dance lead by three of the teenagers standing on stage. In between these, different local children's dance groups performed the dances they have been working on.
My tasks for the event was to sort of act as a pirate, and I danced with the 3 other girls on stage when there was a dance interlude. Back home I danced for several years growing up, so that is why it was natural for me to spontaneously join in when they needed me.
All in all, it was an interesting day and it was nice to watch the children having fun. Afterwards many parents came with positive feedback, so I would say that the pirate carneval 2023 was a success!
